Goals

The ERF:

  • Defends the interests of the European road infrastructure community towards the EU Institutions and other stakeholders.
  • Represents a cross-section of industry partners, road and users associations active in the construction, equipment, maintenance and operation of Europe's road network.
  • Initiates and supports studies and publications aimed at increasing awareness on the importance of roads for all citizens.
  • Contributes to European research initiatives with a view to enhancing the overall efficiency and safety of the road transport system.
  • Gives the road infrastructure community a consistent and united voice in all road transport areas by promoting and coordinating Programmes & Working Groups on the following issues:
    • Socio-economic contribution of roads to society
    • Sustainable road infrastructure
    • Intelligent roads & financing
    • Safer road engineering
    • Urban mobility

EU Supported Forums and Platforms

  1. Policy & Communication: A main goal of the ERF is to represent activities of members before the EU Institutions. Our members are global leaders which develop initiatives in road safety, ITS, environment and road asset management. Main activities are:
    • EU legislation monitoring
    • Organisation of events, seminars and conferences
    • Strategic political advise to our members
  2. R&I: The ERF is committed to innovate the road infrastructure sector as part of the goals proposed in the EU Transport and Mobility Policy. Our members are open to collaborate with other stakeholders and EU Institutions to pursuit this goal. The ERF is currently involved in different EU Projects covering different areas as infrastructure resilience, road safety, or sustainability. ERF gathers regularly its experts in Technical Working Groups to present best practices and share knowledge. WGs also discuss latest developments in the industry, at EU policy level, and also other bodies like the CEN.
